Cayman Islands: UPDATE Man named – Fatal collision involving a motorcycle, 25 March

Police can now confirm the identity of the victim of the fatal traffic collision which occurred on Sunday, 25 March (see below). He is Lenny Ray Pinet Trusty, aged 35, of George Town.

The RCIPS offers condolences to the family of the deceased.

The driver of the other vehicle involved in the collision, a man, aged 24 of West Bay, was arrested on suspicion of Causing Death by Careless Driving. He is currently on bail as investigations continue.

About 5:20PM Police and other emergency services were dispatched by the 9-1-1 Communication Centre to the scene of a serious road traffic collision involving a motorcycle and a car.

The incident took place on Shamrock road in the vicinity of Soto lane, GT. The rider has been transported to the Cayman Islands Hospital where he was shortly thereafter pronounced dead by the attending doctor.

The roadway is totally blocked at this time and will remain blocked for some time. Motorists traveling from the Eastern Districts into George Town and from George Town into the Eastern District are advised to use the East-West arterial bypass.

The matter is under investigation by the Police.
