Attendees also actively participated in sessions on “crime analysis” and “digital forensics,” which covered topics such as forensic applications, hacking, effective intelligence, data access to social web resources, the dark web and, for example, Google as a weapon in the struggle against cybercrime.

The conference turned out to be very topical as the need to increase awareness and prevention is increasing. Cyber-attacks are on the rise and one example was the one of April 2 on the servers of the Government of St. Maarten.

Curaçao Prime Minister Eugene Rhuggenaath concluded the conference with a call for more cooperation between countries in the Caribbean and more cooperation between both public and private sectors.

The Caribbean Cybercrime Conference was organised by the Attorney General’s Office, Kingdom detective cooperation team RST and the Dutch company DataExpert.
