Cayman Islands clubs focus on Youth FA Cups

Games played this past Saturday, May 12 in the 2018 Cayman Islands Football Association (CIFA) youth leagues focused on the Girl’s Under 11, Boy’s Under 13 and Boy’s Under 15 FA Cups.

In the Girl’s Under 13 FA Cup semifinals, Academy SC downed Sunset Stars 4-0 thanks to two goals from Millicent Hoffman and a goal each from Clara Byrne and Ariah Cotterell.

In the second semifinal, Sunset Fusion finally broke down a stingy George Town SC defence to record a 1-0 victory through a strike from Sofia Bonati.

Academy SC will face Sunset Fusion in the Girl’s Under 11 FA Cup final on Saturday, May 26.
In the first of four Boy’s Under 13 FA Cup first round games, 345 FC defeated East End United FC 7-0 with Toby Johns, Liam Heffernan (3), Jake Vandevelde, Dillon Phillips and Jadon Jimenez all getting their names on the score sheet.

In the second game, Academy SC Jaguars enjoyed a 3-0 victory over Sunset Sharks as Jaydon Whittaker, Jahmar Campbell and Kai Hulse all found the back of the net.

Academy SC ESM secured their spot in the Boy’s Under 13 FA Cup semifinals with an exciting 5-4 penalty shootout victory over Sunset Stingrays after battling to a 1-1 draw in regulation time. Sunset’s Tom Byrne cancelled out Joshua Campbell’s opener to take the game to penalties, but Academy ESM were better on the day scoring four of their five penalties while Sunset Stingrays could only score three of their five penalties.

The fourth first round FA Cup game between George Town SC and Future SC was postponed.
In the Boy’s Under 15 FA Cup final, Cayman Athletic SC squeezed by Academy SC Blue 9-8 after a thrilling penalty shootout. With the game tied at 3-3 after regulation time, both teams scored all their allotted five regular penalty kicks before Academy SC Blue failed to find the net with their first sudden death penalty. Cayman Athletic’s sixth penalty taker made no mistake with his chance as Cayman Athletic SC sealed the win and secured the trophy.

Scorers for Academy SC Blue during regulation time were Daniel Wallace, Kameron Bennett and Miles Thompson while Elder Ebanks scored Cayman Athletic’s three goals.

In the Boy’s Under 11 league games, Sunset Warriors drew 1-1 with Future SC with Harry Cowell netting for the Warriors and Caleb Fredricks scoring yet another important goal for Future SC.
345 FC A defeated East End United FC 3-0 thanks to goals from Willis Jahari (2) and Jagger Alban.
345 FC B downed Bodden Town FC 9-0 with goals from Brenneach Lynch (3) Daniel DeQuintal (4), Dillon Phillips and Paul Marineau.

Neither George Town SC nor Sunset Rockets could not find the back of the net on this day and had to settle for a 0-0 draw.

In the Academy SC derby, Academy SC Stingrays ‘stung’ their counterparts Academy SC Lionfish 7-0 with Joshua Elliott (3), Kyan Okoli (3) and Jaeden Gordon securing the win.

In the other derby, Latinos FC A defeated Latinos FC B 1-0 with David Arch Jr. securing all three points for his team.

CIFA youth league games continue this week in the Boy’s Under 11 league with Sunset Warriors playing Latinos FC A on Tuesday, May 15 at 4:15 p.m. at the Annex Field.
In the Boy’s Under 17 league, Cayman Athletic SC face Bodden Town FC on Tuesday, May 15 at 4:30 p.m. at the Haig Bodden Field in Bodden Town.

In the Boy’s Under 15 league, Future SC take on Sunset FC on Wednesday, May 16 at 4:30 p.m. at the Ed Bush Field in West Bay.

In the Girl’s Under 15 league, Academy SC play George Town SC on Thursday, May 17 at 4:15 p.m. at the Annex Field and Sunset FC take on Elite SC at 5:00 p.m. at the Ed Bush Field.
