Cayman Islands Chamber Council provides update on Advocacy Agenda & Action Plan

The Council held separate meetings recently with Cabinet, the Minister of Commerce and the Leader of the Opposition. During each of the meetings President Paul Byles and Council members provided an update on the progress that has been achieved to date with implementing the Chamber’s Advocacy Agenda and Action Plan, 2018-2021.

Education, Employment and Workforce Development, Economic Growth and Diversification, Regulatory Efficiencies and Community Development were among the main areas discussed during the meetings (see attached report for details). The Council meets quarterly with Cabinet, the Minister of Commerce and the Leader of the Opposition. These meetings enable the Council and Government leaders to discuss issues that impact the economy and the wider community.

President Paul Byles also provided an update on the implementation of the Advocacy Agenda and Action Plan at the Chamber’s Economic Forum in May. A full report from the forum is being finalised and will be submitted to the Minister of Economic Development and the Chamber membership when completed and approved by the Council for distribution. The report will summarise some of the challenges and opportunities facing the main industry sectors that were identified during presentations by Cayman Finance, the Cayman Islands Tourism Association and the Cayman Islands Real Estate Brokers Association.
