Shortly after 2:30PM on Sunday, 22 July, a report was received of a person in distress off South Church Street, George Town.

A woman had experienced difficulties while diving and was assisted back to shore by her companion, who then, along with other members of the public, administered CPR until emergency personnel arrived.

She was transported to the Cayman Islands Hospital where she was later pronounced dead.

The woman is Peggy Sylvia Michel, age 64, from New York in the United States.
