Cayman Islands: Robbery on Shedden Road
From RCIPS
Shortly after 7:15PM on Sunday, 16 September, officers responded to a report of a robbery on Shedden Road in George Town. A bus driver reported that he was robbed by a passenger who he had picked up in West Bay and who was sitting next to him at the front of the bus. When the driver slowed to drop the passenger off near the intersection of Shedden Road and Main Street, the passenger drew a knife and demanded cash from the driver. A struggle ensued, during which the driver received a wound to his leg, and the bus collided with a wall on the road side. The culprit made off with a quantity of cash and fled in the direction of Elgin Avenue. The driver was taken to the Cayman Islands Hospital by private vehicle, where he was treated and subsequently released.
The suspect is described as being tall and slim, in his early 20s, and was wearing a white t-shirt and dark colored shorts.
The incident is currently under investigation and police are particularly interested in speaking with other passengers of the bus who would have been dropped off in George Town shortly before the incident occurred (between 6:45PM and 7:15PM).
