Deputy Governor, Hon. Franz Manderson, Cert. Hon., JP, took the oath of allegiance as an ex-officio Member of the Legislative Assembly, in the House this morning (Wednesday, 4 April, 2012).

The Speaker, Hon. Mary Lawrence, MBE, JP, welcomed Mr. Manderson on behalf of all Members at the start of the fifth meeting of the LA’s 2011/12 session.

In the LA, Mr. Manderson has responsibility for Internal and External Affairs as well as the Civil Service. He takes the place of retired Deputy Governor, Mr. Donovan Ebanks, MBE, JP.

An ex-officio Member can take part in debates but does not vote, in matters requiring a vote, such as bills; or participate in Finance Committee.
