Cayman Islands: Water-Related death off Seven Mile Beach – UPDATE

UPDATE – Police can now confirm the identity of the man, age 60, who died on Thursday, 3 January, after losing consciousness in the water off Seven Mile Beach. He is Gregory Scott Azeltine, of North Carolina in the United States.
The RCIPS expresses condolences to the family of the deceased.
Shortly before 2:00PM on Thursday, 3 January, officers responded to a report of a person in distress in the water off Seven Mile Beach in the vicinity of Tanager Way. A man had been out on a snorkeling trip and lost consciousness while in the water. He was taken out of the water onto a nearby vessel where CPR was performed, but remained unresponsive as he was taken back to shore. He was met on shore by Emergency Services who transported him to the Cayman Islands Hospital for treatment, where he was later pronounced dead.
The man, age 60, is a visitor from the United States
