Three heavily armed bandits who overpowered two police special constables this morning and took away their guns during a brazen early morning robbery at the Melanie Post Office, did the strangest of things after committing the robbery – they happily returned the gun to the Special Constables moments before escaping the scene.

During the robbery, the bandits escaped with a safe containing an undisclosed amount of cash.

According to the police, the three men launched the attack in the wee hours of this morning which saw them overpowering the two female Special Constance’s that was securing the building, and took their firearm.

The men then escorted the two SC’s to the back of the building and tied them up.

Several minutes later, once the safe was secured, the bandits returned the gun to the Special Constables who were said to be still tied up.

The Guyana Police Force has since said that they are making every effort to apprehend the three bandits.
