Royal Caribbean, known for their award winning cruise ships, currently has new six cruise ships that are either on order or are currently under construction.

These six ships, (two Oasis class, two Quantum Ultra class, and two Icon class) will all go into service in the next five years and promise to raise the standard by which all current mega cruise ships are measured. After the successful debut of their 4th Oasis class ship (Symphony of the Seas) last year, here are the six ships that Royal Caribbean has coming out in the next five years.

Oasis Class

The Oasis class ships are the largest cruise ships in the world and Royal Caribbean has two more of them coming out.Sponsored Links

Royal Caribbean has yet to announce a name for either of these cruise ships.  The cruise line makes each one slightly larger than the previous ship.  This means that each ship will be the largest cruise ship in the world when they debut.  The 5th Oasis class ship will go into service in 2021 with the 6th Oasis class ship two years later in 2023.

Quantum Ultra Class

Royal Caribbean has two Quantum Ultra class ships on order, with delivery dates of 2019 and 2020.  These 168,000 gross ton ships can carry 4,180 passengers at double occupancy and are among the most technologically advanced cruise ships in the world.

The first Quantum Ultra class ship, Spectrum of the Seas, will debut this year. This revolutionary Quantum Ultra ship will specifically be designed for guests in China and the Asia-Pacific region, and will feature cutting-edge and unprecedented experiences and amenities.

The second Quantum Ultra class ship, Odyssey of the Seas, will sail from a U.S. port beginning in 2020.  The exact home port and itineraries have yet to be released by Royal Caribbean.

Icon Class

A brand new class of ships for Royal Caribbean, two Icon class ships have been ordered with delivery dates in 2022 and 2024.  While Royal Caribbean has yet to release many details on these new builds, we do know that they will be powered by LNG and each carry 5,000 passengers.

They are expected to be around 200,000 gross tons in size, roughly 10-13% smaller than the Oasis class ships.

These six cruise ships will cost an estimated $6.7 billion to build.

Royal Caribbean currently has a fleet of 25 cruise ships and sails to the most popular cruise destinations in the world including the Caribbean, Alaska, Europe, Hawaii, and Asia.
