RBC finance rep found guilty of stealing

Erick Adam, son of Mike Adam the Community Affairs Minister, and a former employee of Royal Bank of Canada (RBC), was found guilty by jury on Monday (23) of stealing more than US$29,000 from a customer’s account.

Adam, who was at the time a personal financial representative at RBC, was the one who had closed a client account, ordered a bankers draft and cashed that draft on behalf of a couple he himself had invented.

The theft, which took place in September 2009, was discovered when the account holders came to the bank to look at their fixed term deposit account and discovered it was empty. Adam then claimed he was the victim of a scam and had mistakenly given money to the couple he had invented claiming they had conned him.
