Nevada gaming regulators move to ban Casino mogul Steve Wynn
Mogul Steve Wynn
If there is ever any gossip to be had it can be found within the casino gambling industry on the internet and currently Steve Wynn is one of the hot topics reaching international headlines across the world with the latest scandal dish. As many may have already heard, there have been some pretty strong accusations aimed and fired at the casino boss in Las Vegas, Nevada and amongst these accusations are several sexual harassment claims against Wynn. Regardless, this isn’t the reason Nevada gaming regulators are in motion to get the casino kingpin removed from their jurisdiction.
It was only when Wynn failed to appear for an investigative hearing that the board of Wynn Resorts requested from state regulators that Steve Wynn lose his gaming license in lieu of recent erratic behaviour and misconduct. Not only did the board request that the head of Wynn casinos loses his gaming license but that they fine Wynn for failing to appear to the scheduled hearing.
Losing his gaming license would only add to the list of misconducts which has seen him lose respectability in the public’s eye since the beginning of 2018. This was when the Wall Street Journal reported that the casino boss had been pressuring female employees for sexual means and even went as far as to use his title, reputation and wealth to influence these employees to comply.
Steve Wynn on Allegations
Reports stated that Wynn denied the long chain of allegations brought upon him by several female employees; however despite his denial the accusations heavily impacted his business. The Mirage and Treasure Island resigned as Wynn Resorts CEO in 2018 which then caused him to sell his shares in the company and caused a massive stir within the media. This chain reaction caused Steve Wynn to lose his positions as finance chairman of the RNC (Republican National Committee) which played a devastating role in his future business, not that there was much business rolling in after such serious allegations were aimed at the casino kingpin.
Unfortunately for Wynn, this wasn’t the last of his downfall. The University of Pennsylvania revoked his honorary degree and stripped his title from a scholarship that was formed in the name of Steve Wynn on the campus plaza.
Steve Wynn Fined
As fate would have it for Wynn, Nevada gaming regulators did, in fact, pursue a fine for Wynn Resorts for failing to investigate these dire allegations aimed at Steve Wynn. The fine was a whopping $20 million. It was during this time that Wynn Resorts admitted having been aware of these allegations and other accusations involving Steve Wynn, thus resulting in the biggest payout in gaming history and making the entire sordid ordeal a media headline sensation.
One of the allegations denied by Steve Wynn was a nail technician for the brand of Wynn Resorts who claimed Steve Wynn had raped her and gotten her pregnant. This payout alone resulted in the young former employee to receive a hefty payout of $7.5 million dollars back in 2007.
