Island Heritage Insurance responds to community needs arising from Covid-19

Grand Cayman, 7 April 2020- Island Heritage Insurance Company, Ltd. announced today its community support efforts in response to the Covid-19 crisis, pledging $20,000 USD to two organisations currently working under greater pressure than ever.

Island Heritage has pledged $10,000 USD to Cayman Islands Meals on Wheels, which is seeing a rapidly growing waiting list of vulnerable people needing meals. In addition, the amount of $10,000 USD is being donated to the Cayman Islands Crisis Centre, which provides safe temporary shelter for women and their children suffering from domestic abuse. Unfortunately, the lockdown has led to an increase in requests to shelter at-risk people.

Island Heritage’s parent company, BF&M Limited, headquartered in Bermuda, has pledged $10,000 to support a joint corporate/hospital initiative to bring in urgent personal protective equipment for community frontline carers.  The Company is further donating $10,000 to The Coalition of Protection of Children, which estimates needing to service more than double the number of families and children in need. As well as helping to replenish food supplies in the Coalition storehouse, the funds will go towards providing medications, laundry supplies, and personal hygiene supplies.

John Wight, Group Chairman and CEO of BF&M Limited, explains: “At a time that is stressful in so many ways for so many people, we are thinking about those who need extra help. Our customers depend on us to be there for them when they need us; we also believe we must support our communities at times of crisis, when we can.”
