Cayman: George Town man arrested for drug related offenses

From RCIPS

Just before 5PM on Sunday 26 April, officers were on patrol in the area of Sound Way, George Town, when they observed a male and female who were believed to be in breach of the hard curfew. The officers stopped and spoke with them, and whilst doing so, smelt a strong sent of ganja.

A search was carried out under the Misuse of Drugs Law, on their persons. Both were in possession of ganja.  The man was also in possession of an amount of cash.  A further check of the surrounding area was carried out and utensils believed to be used to assist in the sale of drugs were recovered.  A search of the premises also revealed a further substantial amount of cash.

All items found by the police were seized as evidence and the 36-year-old-man of George Town was arrested by the officers on suspicion of possession of ganja, possession of ganja with intent to supply, possession of drug utensils, consumption of ganja and money laundering.

The 31-year-old-woman who was present at the location was also arrested on suspicion of possession of ganja and consumption of ganja. Both were taken into custody and later bailed pending further investigations into the matter.

The man who was found in breach of the hard curfew was warned for intended prosecution by the officers.
