US: No COVID-19 deaths in over half of US counties

Fifty-two percent of all U.S. counties have not had a COVID-19 death, according to The Daily Signal.
Here are how the figures break down:
- 1,639 counties (52%) have had zero coronavirus deaths as of May 4.
- 447 counties (14%) have each reported 1 death.
- 443 counties (14%) have reported 2-5 COVID-19 deaths.
- 183 counties (6%) have reported 6-10 deaths.
- 94 counties (3%) have reported 11-15 deaths.
- 348 counties (11%) have reported more than 16 deaths.
The Daily Signal noted that as of May 4, New York and New Jersey accounted for 38% of all cases and 48% of total coronavirus deaths. And just five states, New York, New Jersey, Massachusetts, Illinois and California, accounted for 54% of all COVID-19 cases and 61% of coronavirus deaths.
Meanwhile, the highest rate of coronavirus cases of any county on the U.S. west coast is in Washington state’s Yakima County.
As of Friday, Yakima County had 1,203 positive cases, a rate of 455 cases per 100,000 residents.
