Cayman: Police investigate West Bay incidents

At about 7:40PM yesterday, 6 May, the RCIPS received a report that shots had been fired in the vicinity of Foremast Close, West Bay. Officers responded and made checks in the area but nothing to substantiate the report was discovered. Subsequently police received another report that shots had been heard in the area at around the same time as the first report.
At about 10:00AM today, 7 May, officers responded to a report of an altercation and serious assault in the vicinity of Foremast Close. Officers observed a man at the location with a severe machete wound to his hand. Emergency services attended the scene and the man was transported to hospital for treatment.
A man, age 34 of West Bay, who is known to the victim, has been arrested on suspicion of assault GBH and remains in police custody.
Police are working on the basis that these incidents may be linked, and both are currently under police investigation.
