US: No surprise here — Media ignores COVID vaccine good news
By Mike Huckabee From Newsmax
The mainstream media may not be paying as much attention to the coronavirus pandemic these days, but President Trump absolutely remains focused on delivering a cure to the American people.
Through the ground-breaking “Operation Warp Speed,” the White House is pulling out all the stops to ensure we have a safe and effective COVID-19 vaccine by January of 2021.
According to a recent statement from the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), the Trump administration’s Operation Warp Speed (OWS) has already identified 14 “promising candidates” for a coronavirus vaccine, including some that are already undergoing clinical trials — including one in Jacksonville, Florida.
OWS aims to deliver 300 million doses of a safe, effective vaccine for COVID-19 by January 2021,” the HHS notes, adding that a vaccine is actually “part of a broader strategy to accelerate the development, manufacturing, and distribution of COVID-19 vaccines, therapeutics, and diagnostics (collectively known as countermeasures).
The administration has already awarded over $2 billion to fund research and development of various vaccine candidates, and those efforts already seem to be paying off. “We are already seeing vaccine development proceeding at a record-setting pace,” one official recently revealed.
The federal government is also wisely signing exclusive deals with pharmaceutical companies and investing hundreds of millions of dollars in biomedical manufacturing to ensure that every man, woman, and child in this country will have access to the vaccine as soon as one is available.
“Operation Warp Speed . . . [is] a massive scientific, industrial, and logistical endeavor unlike anything our country has seen since the Manhattan Project,” the president explained when he unveiled the initiative, adding, that OWS “will bring together the best of American industry and innovation, the full resources of the United States government, and the excellence and precision of the United States military.”
Regrettably, you will rarely hear the mainstream media cover or discuss these unprecedented national efforts to achieve life-saving breakthroughs within such an ambitious timeframe.
If researchers succeed in meeting the president’s January 2021 target for a COVID-19 vaccine, it will be the fastest that a vaccine has ever been developed in response to a new strain of virus.
So, instead of reporting on the remarkable progress we’re making in the fight to save lives, however, the media have apparently grown bored and moved on.
And if by some miracle the members of the liberal press do suddenly remember about the ongoing global pandemic, their coverage is carefully crafted to advance the political interests of the Democratic Party.
Floridians, for instance, have recently seen a number of news reports about a surge in coronavirus cases and predictions of a possible second wave of the disease. Moreover, media outlets across the country have been highly critical of President Trump’s decision to resume hosting campaign rallies; suddenly deciding that large crowds are dangerous after gleefully egging on mass demonstrations in the wake of George Floyd’s tragic death at the hands of a Minneapolis police officer.
In fact, the president’s team is doing much more to guarantee the health and safety of its supporters than Antifa organizers did for their foot soldiers — Antifa’s masks are designed to conceal the wearer’s identity, not slow the spread of disease.
Trump Campaign Manager Brad Parscale recently stated that each rally guest at the event in Tulsa would get a temperature check, hand sanitizer, and a mask prior to entering the arena. Antifa’s ringleaders distributed bricks, clubs, and molotov cocktails.
Unlike biased liberal journalists, President Trump understands that deadly pandemics don’t take breaks for political or social causes. Rest assured that we’re making rapid, around-the-clock progress toward developing a safe and effective vaccine, even if you don’t hear anything about it from the media — perhaps especially if you don’t hear anything about it from the media.
