The Editor speaks: When is a Christian NOT a Christian?

Colin Wilson

Answer: If he or she supports a Bill giving Christian rights to persons who belong to the LGBTQ+ community.

This was the astonishing decision from the majority of our MLA’s who voted against the Domestic Partnership Bill.that did not give the LGBTQ+ community the right to get married here but the basic human rights we all should be allowed to receive no matter what color or orientation we are.

I have to wonder at how many of our MLA’s know exactly what Christianity is really about. LOVE TO ALL was certainly missing.

Our Minister of Heath, Dwayne Seymour, who LOVES to give us a Bible quote before he speaks at the now irregular press briefings about the corona virus (nothing wrong with that and I applaud him for it) came up with a request for all of us men to take advantage of the Full Moon. According to Seymour, when the moon is Full women’s sexual desires are increased and all of us heterosexual males should take full advantage of it. This will actually save this nation by causing procreation. Gays will not do this, he said. The LGBTQ community was trying to “bully us into submission”, he said, without saying why he would not support the Domestic Partnership Bill. This Bill does NOT give the right of same sex marriage. By not voting for the Bill it has given the LGBTQ full ammunition to increase their “bullying attack”, as he calls it.

And it has!***

Seymour also asked when would our rights be protected? Again, what has this got to do with the Bill he has opposed? I wonder if he actually understands…..? I am trying hard not to be rude so I will leave it at that.

I knew before hand exactly what Anthony Eden was going to say and I understand he has labelled himself a FUNDALMENTALIST Christian. It is a very good label for him as according to Wikipedia “The term fundamentalist is controversial in the 21st century, because it connotes religious extremism, especially when such labeling is applied beyond the movement which coined the term or beyond those who self-identify as fundamentalists today.” Certainly from what Eden says the word “LOVE” does not apply to everybody, despite Jesus saying the greatest commandment of all is LOVE!

Generally all the persons against the Bill gave us, who had to watch it, an astonishing look into their minds that concludes the registration of same-sex couples equates to an acceptance of homosexual sex.

Therefore, any register that announces we are a bit abnormal from the normal makes us a candidate for hate. There certainly is no love for anyone who admits to being GAY!!

And then came the blame by some MLA’s on the FOREIGN gays that arrived on our shores. Apparently the gays, who were already among us, were “happy with their lot” as one MLA claimed. The once happy and silent majority were now intimidated by these foreigners and they stirred them up to demand rights they did not deserve.

Oh, please!

I save the last for Education Minister Juliana O’Connor-Connolly who urged everyone to vote for God’s Laws and not Man’s. She compared herself to various Biblical characters. Wow. (One was not Judith who prayed to God asking Him to give her a LYING tongue!) She acknowledged there might be consequences if the Bill failed. She would welcome being a martyr. “If I perish, I perish”.

Well, we all have to perish some time, don’t we? Whether I am a Christian or not a Christian.

At least I have a very good understanding of the word “LOVE”!!!

*** Shadow Foreign Office Minister Stephen Doughty MP of the Labour Party has written to his counterpart the Minister For Overseas Territories, Baroness Snugg, today to urge the UK Government to now step in, also stating publicly:

“Despite the welcome efforts of many, it is deeply regrettable that the Cayman Islands Legislative Assembly has not passed this crucial Bill.

“The Governor is right to call it a sad day for the rule of law in the Cayman Islands—and most crucially for the LGBT+ community there, as well as those who move to live, work or holiday there—with basic human rights that would be upheld in the UK, not being recognised in Cayman.

“This situation is no longer tenable. If the Legislative Assembly continues to deny basic rights to some of its citizens—then UK Ministers must act urgently to ensure the Cayman Islands complies with the rule of law and its responsibilities as a British Overseas Territory.

“It is time that all British Overseas Territories ensure legal equality for LGBT+ people.”
