| F.D.A. Transparency for vaccine deliberations In an attempt to prevent rushing ahead with a new vaccine, 400 health experts wrote a letter urging the F.D.A. to be open and forthcoming about deliberations on the safety and efficacy of any new vaccines that may be brought to the public. There are more than 30 vaccine candidates in the works and development is being done at speeds never before seen. Transparency would help give people trust that a vaccine is safe and effective in preventing disease. New York is trying to put up a bubble New York City will be putting up check points on bridges and tunnels to inform travelers about quarantine rules. Travelers from 34 states and Puerto Rico have been required to self quarantine since late June but the effort has mostly been applied to airports. Now, the Mayor announced that there will be checkpoints for travelers by car, bus and truck advising them of the requirements as well. This is an attempt to keep New York from experiencing an increase in CoViD-19 numbers from surrounding states. Party in the Dark in LA! The Mayor of Los Angeles announced that the city could cut off electric power to houses or businesses that host large gatherings in defiance of public health rules. Large parties have been banned but there have been a number of reports of large gatherings happening anyway. If LAPD identifies repeat offenders, they will get a notice that power will be shut off in 48 hours. Be well and take care of yourself. There are storm clouds on the horizon. –Dr. Stu |
