ust before 9PM today, 8 August, police and other emergency services were dispatched by the 9-1-1 Communication Centre to a report of a two vehicle collision that took place along Walkers Road, in the vicinity of Academy Way. 

The driver of one of the vehicles was trapped inside and as a result, he was extricated from the vehicle by the Cayman Islands Fire Service after which he was transported to the Cayman Islands Hospital where he is currently being treated for what is believed to be serious and life-threatening-injuries. The driver of the other vehicle did not report any injuries to the investigators. 

Both north and south bound lanes along Walkers Road are currently closed and traffic is being diverted between Academy Way and Rowley Rise. Motorists are being asked to avoid the area if possible and to exercise caution otherwise, as officers will be on scene carrying out their investigations.
