Cayman: Closures due to TS Eta
“National Attractions closed due to effects from TS ETA”
[Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands – Saturday, 7th November 2020]
The Cayman Islands Tourism Attraction Board (TAB) is announcing it will temporarily close the Queen Elizabeth II Botanic Park and Pedro St. James National Historic Site due to flooding in low lying areas and downed trees.
The TAB expects the attractions to resume normal operations on Wednesday 11th November.

Foster’s & Priced Right Closing at 9AM Sat (7)
Based on the current weather and path of Tropical Depression Eta, all Foster’s and Priced Right locations will close at 9AM this morning. We will re-open on Monday, November 9th from 9AM-6PM in observance of Remembrance Day.
Remembrance Ceremony cancelled in Cayman Brac due to inclement weather
The District Administration wishes to inform the public that due to weather projections around Tropical storm ETA, Cayman Brac’s Remembrance Sunday ceremony plans have been cancelled.
The community is invited to watch the CIGTV Remembrance special which airs on Sunday at 12noon on CIGTV and its YouTube Channel. The show will be rebroadcasted at 8pm on Sunday.

DCR Extends Office Closure
Inclement weather has delayed the relocation of the Department of Community Rehabilitation (DCR) to new premises. As such, DCR will be closed to the public for an additional one week to facilitate the move. During this time, for any urgent matters, the public can call either 926-9347 or 926-2197.
DCR will reopen to the public on Monday, 16 November at their new location, 3rd floor, Apollo House East, 77 Mary Street, George Town.

All Post Offices Close at 1pm Today
In view of the flood warning issued, all post offices on all three islands will close to the public at 1pm today (Friday, 6 November 2020). This is to allow staff to secure postal facilities as well as mail and packages.
To protect all mail from potential water damage, at most offices staff will remove any mail in the lower five rows of post office boxesat 1 pm today. At the General Post Office and on the Sister Islands, all mail will be removed at 1 pm today.
The Postal Service will secure this mail to prevent any damage and will place the back in the boxes when the facilities reopen.

Ports Close, Cargo Distribution Centre Remains Open
The Port of George Town, Grand Cayman and the Port of Creek, Cayman Brac are closed to vessel berthing at its facilities from today (Friday, 6 November 2020) until further notice, due to the forecasted weather deterioration as Tropical Storm Eta passes west of the Cayman Islands tomorrow.
The Berkley Bush Cargo Distribution Center on Portland Road and the Billing Office, will be open as normal today, but will not open tomorrow. Importers are therefore encouraged to have goods cleared and ready to collect to do so today if possible.
The Cargo Distribution Centre and Billing Office reopens on Tuesday, 10 November. The Port Authority will announce in due course when berthing of vessels will resume based on the state of the sea.

National Museum Closed Due To Tropical Storm Eta
The Cayman Islands National Museum will be closed today thru Tuesday, 10th November 2020 due to inclement weather from anticipated Tropical Storm Eta.
We will also be closed for Remembrance Day, Monday 9th, November and reopening Tuesday, 10th November 2020.

Cayman Turtle Centre prepares for storm conditions
In view of the Severe Weather Bulletins and Tropical Storm Watch issued for the Cayman Islands, preparations are underway at Cayman Turtle Centre to ensure that all visitors, staff and animals remain safe. The Centre will be closed to the public on Friday 6th and Saturday 7th November.
In preparation for the forecast weather conditions due to Tropical Depression Eta, predicted to become a Tropical Storm, necessary precautions are being put in place at the Centre, and the most vulnerable animals are being temporarily rehoused in safe and secure enclosures until the storm has passed.
“Following yesterday’s announcement of a Tropical Storm Watch and the Severe Weather Bulletins for the Cayman Islands, our dedicated crew members have been busy putting our disaster preparedness plan into action and ensuring our animals will be safe while the Centre is closed to the public.” Mr. Tim Adam, CEO, said.
“We are hoping that the storm will pass by the Cayman Islands without incident, but in light of the severe weather warnings, we will be prepared.”
As soon as the storm passes and the all-clear is given, work will begin to prepare the Centre for re-opening to the public.
Cayman Turtle Products announced it will be open earlier today at 11:30 AM and closing at 1:30 PM.
