Snorkelling death at East End – Update Man named
A 56-year-old American tourist died who died on Sunday (May 27) morning while snorkelling off the East End of the Island has been named as Kenneth Perroz, of Tampa, Florida.
About 10.05 pm yesterday, Sunday 27 May 2012, police received a report that a snorkeler had been found unconscious in the sea close to the Morritts Tortuga resort.
The man had been snorkeling with a friend and they had become separated. The friend exited the water and then reentered in an attempt to locate the 56-year-old. A short time later he was found unconscious and floating on the water. The man was brought to shore by his friend who administered CPR until the arrival of paramedics.
The man was thereafter transported to the Cayman Islands Hospital, George Town, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
The man was visiting Grand Cayman from his home in Tampa, Florida.
