Cayman: RCIPS confirms identity of victim in fatal collision

Update (10 November):
The RCIPS can now confirm the identity of the victim in the fatal collision which took place on Saturday, 7 November, on Powell Smith Road, West Bay. He is 53-year-old Chuck Elvis Ebanks, of West Bay.
The RCIPS expresses condolences to the family of the deceased.
The rider of the motorcycle which was involved in the collision, a man age 26 of West Bay, has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving, taking a conveyance without authority, driving without being qualified, and other traffic offenses. He has been granted bail as investigations continue.
Initial Release (7 November):
Shortly after 7:20PM today, 7 November, officers responded to a report of a collision on Powell Smith Drive, West Bay, involving a motorcycle and a pedestrian. Emergency services attended the scene and the pedestrian was subsequently pronounced dead. The rider of the motorcycle sustained injuries and was transported by ambulance to the Cayman Islands Hospital for treatment.
The matter is under investigation and traffic officers remain on scene. Powell Smith Drive will remain closed to traffic until further notice as investigations continue.
The RCIPS wishes to again remind the public to restrict travel on the roadways as much as possible, due to the effects of Tropical Storm Eta.
