Cayman: Christmas at the Castle returns to Pedro
[Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands – November 30, 2020] The Tourism Attraction Board (TAB) and Pedro St. James (PSJ) are again hosting Christmas at the Castle this Sunday 6th December. The free event touted as a celebration under the stars, is a kickoff to the 2020 holiday season where the people can gather safely outdoors on the National Historic Site’s Great Lawn.
Christmas at the Castle will feature a Christmas concert and tree lighting, a Christmas market, food court, and a visit from Father Christmas himself. “We held our first Christmas at the Castle last year. It was an opportunity for the Tourism Attraction Board to ‘give back’ to the community while offering yet another chance for vendors and artisans to sell their products, as well as the opportunity to hear from many of Cayman’s talented performers” explained TAB Marketing Coordinator, Mona Meade.
Christmas carols and other holiday favorites will be performed by a wide variety of musicians including Vashti, Erica Assai, Michelle T, Andrea Rivera, the JA1 Praising Hands ministry, Cayman Folk Singers, the Cayman Islands Baptist Church worship team, Dexter Bodden, the UCCI and Miss Jackie’s Dancers among others.
Another important component of the event is the fundraising raffle, aimed at developing a wheelchair accessible walkway at the attraction. “It has long been a goal of ours to make Pedro more wheelchair friendly. Our goal for 2021 is to create a walkway from the main courtyard area leading to the Great House, making us more accessible to the physically challenged. Tickets are only CI$5 and can be purchased at the event,” said Pedro St. James’ Operations Manager, Debbie Bodden.
“We are thankful to sponsors and the many businesses who have committed prizes in support of our raffle, as this kindness ensures the public will not only be able to enjoy a fun holiday show but also have the opportunity to win one of 53 prizes valued at more than CI$2600.00,” added Mrs. Bodden.
New to the event this year is the added support from main sponsors Coca-Cola and the Ministry of Culture, both are organizations which promote the value of human connection and bringing people together.
Coca-Cola Brand Manager, Dario Rivers says the soft drink company is poised to align its well-known holiday theme to a Cayman Christmas with a few added surprises. “We hope that what we have to offer will instill a great sense pride and belonging to each and every attendee,” said Mr. Rivers.
Christmas at the Castle is bigger than all of us. This incredible event is about Caymankind, sharing the magic with each other and embracing the meaning of Christmas, which is togetherness. The opportunity to engage with each smiling face is simply priceless, and Coca-Cola is ecstatic to be a part of it,” he added.
