Chrissie Tomlinson Memorial Hospital (CTMH) welcomes Dr. Ramone Lacanilao to their family of specialists.  Dr. Lacanilao joins the paediatric team at the Cayman Islands only private hospital, which offers regular, preventative and emergency care for children.

Dr. Lacanilao is a board certified paedtrician and has practiced in Missouri, New York, West Virginia, Texas, Canada and the Philippines.  He has also practiced in Cayman before, and is happy to return to the Caribbean where he is able to offer a higher standard of care to patients.  “The patients at Chrissie Tomlinson really appreciate us (the doctors) and the level of care we give to each of them” explained Dr. Lacanilao.  When he was in Cayman at CTMH before, Dr. Lacanilao was instrumental in the procurement of new equipment for the hospital, specifically the newborn section.  He specialises in infant and neo-natal care but can also handle complex paediatric endocrinology cases too.  Additionally, Dr. Lacanilao works closely with parents and their children if any behavioural problems arise, to find the right specialist needed and the right solutions.

Dr. Lacanilao recommends that all parents diligently make sure their children are preventatively vaccinated and up to date on their immunisations.  “Sometimes it’s very easy to forget or overlook when that type of preventative care is required.  Patients need to follow up and check with their doctors about checkups and screenings and new vaccinations, for all ages.” he furthered.
