Caribbean Utilities Company, Ltd. (“CUC”) has donated and installed four Ecobee Smart Thermostats at the National Council for Voluntary Organisations (NCVO) Children Services.

The NCVO reached out to CUC over the summer for assistance with energy savings and CUC performed an energy audit of the organisation’s school buildings. It was determined that the air conditioning was the greatest contributor to their high utility bills. To address this issue, CUC donated the Smart Thermostats which will help to monitor their energy consumption and reduce costs.

Chief Executive Officer of the NCVO Children Services, Paola Juarez -Robinson, stated “When you are educating and taking care of Cayman’s youngest generations, one has to do what is right, and sometimes that means that our operational costs become huge expenses for our charity. With the Smart Thermostats, CUC is helping us to achieve some of the energy savings we need.”

The NCVO Children Services is responsible for the Jack and Jill Nursery and Miss Nadine’s Preschool.

Dillon Evans, CUC’s Supervisor Metering in the Customer Service Department noted, “These Ecobee Smart Thermostats will allow the schools to reduce their energy consumption by better managing their cooling needs when the school is open and when it is closed.”

CUC recently launched the Smart Thermostat Pilot Programme and is looking for 200 households to participate. The thermostats are available to the first 175 participants at no charge.
