A 60-year-old man has been charged with several counts of deception following an RCIPS investigation into misconduct within the National Housing Development Trust (NHDT).

The man was charged  on Monday 11 June 2012, with 3 counts of obtaining money by deception; 1 of attempting to obtain money by deception; 4 counts of obtaining a pecuniary advantage by deception and 1 count of attempting to obtain a pecuniary advantage by deception.

He has been released on police bail pending his court appearance.

As we announced in iNews Cayman on October 19th 2011, the man now charged, is Edlin Myles.

Mr. Myles was Deputy Chairman of the NHDT. At that time he was a UDP official and was one of only three remaining members of the NHDT board after several resignations.

It is believed that Myles is accused of manipulating his position of trust to sell insurance to applicants who applied to buy homes on the 2011 completed East End site.

A private government company, the NHDT’s mandate is to assist low-income families in home ownership.
