Grand Cayman, 17 December 2021 (GIS) – The Cayman Islands Fire Service (CIFS), working alongside the Department of Environmental Health (DEH) and Royal Cayman Islands Police Service attended a fire at the Little Cayman Landfill. 

CIFS was dispatched to the scene at 10.40 p.m. (Wednesday, 15 December). There were three fires in separate areas which were about 30-50 feet in length and 30 feet in width. CIFS and DEH will continue to monitor the landfill throughout the weekend.

Meanwhile, CIFS crews are still onsite at the George Town Landfill and will continue with damping operations into next week. The Fire Service will decide the next steps following an assessment next week.
