Miss Cayman Universe: What a year it’s been!

Welcome to the Miss Cayman Islands Universe quarterly newsletter. It’s a new year, and we are so excited to see what 2022 has in store! As we collectively turn the page to a new chapter, let’s look back and reflect on 2021, and all of what our beautiful queens accomplished.

In mid-November, our reigning queen, Georgina Kerford, left her home of Grand Cayman to head to Eilat, Israel for the 70th Annual Miss Universe Competition. Georgina was gone for nearly a month to travel, learn, explore, make lifelong friends and compete in the pageant.

We are so proud of Georgina for being an outstanding representation of the Cayman Islands on the international stage.

Special thank you to designer Danielle Watler, local costume designer who made another beautiful National Costume for our queen this year, international designer Anaz, who designed Georgina’s beautiful evening gown, and another international designer and longtime friend of the Miss Cayman Islands Universe organization, Uzuri International, who designed Georgina’s final gown.
No doubt 2021 was an exciting year. Let’s look back at the year in review, together. Click the link below to watch our 2021 Year in Review, featuring our two queens and nine 2021 Miss Cayman Islands Universe contestants.

On behalf of the Miss Cayman Islands Universe committee, we would like to express our gratitude to our community, friends, family, supporters, sponsors and the Cayman Islands Government for your ongoing support. 2021 was an interesting year as it was the first year we had two Miss Caymans’ attend the Miss Universe Competition; Mariah Tibbetts, Miss Cayman Islands Universe 2020 attended the 2020 Miss Universe Competition in Hollywood, Florida in May of 2021; and Georgina Kerford, Miss Cayman Islands Universe 2021 attended the 2021 Miss Universe Competition in Eilat, Israel in December 2021.

This past year has also not been an easy one for our beloved Island home. In 2021 we experienced our first peak of COVID-19 in the two years since the pandemic had started. We are so blessed to be able to have the support of you, our people, and the Cayman Islands Government throughout these difficult times. We are all in this together.
