Cayman marks Sixteenth COVID Death Today (2); 132 NEW Positives (for Jan 31); Weekly SitRep Issued
Grand Cayman – An 86-year-old has passed away from COVID related causes today, bringing the Cayman Islands’ coronavirus death toll to 16. The deceased was fully vaccinated and suffered from severe comorbidities.
Public Health has tabulated 132 new positive cases thus far for the 31 January. This figure is expected to change as additional data is analysed. Final numbers will be included in the next edition of the COVID-19 Situational Report (SitRep).
Meanwhile 15 COVID-19 patients were hospitalised in the Cayman Islands on Wednesday, 2 February. Two new in-patients were included in this number while three were discharged.
Eight new cases of COVID were reported in the Sister Islands on Wednesday 2 February. The Sister Islands has had 412 cases of COVID-19 to date.

Public Health has also released its third COVID-19 Situational Report today for 23 – 29 January. This week’s report shows a decline in new cases compared to previous weeks in addition to other key findings.
