Cayman: Ministry of Culture & Heritage Supports Culture Day with CNCF, CINM

Grand Cayman, 23 March 2022 –The Ministry of Youth, Sports and Culture (MSYCH) helped amplify the fundraising efforts of two of its statutory authorities and government companies (SAGCs), during Dress for Culture Day events recently.

The annual 11 March observance promotes cultural pride and celebrates cultural diversity.

Speaking of Cayman National Cultural Foundation’s fundraiser, CNCF’s Managing Director, Mrs. Marcia Muttoo said, “It looks like we’re closing in on $10,000 as of now, primarily from schools, individuals and private businesses.

“There may be more to come from the public service and groups that have chosen to do their Dress for Culture Day on a different date more convenient to them.  We’re grateful to all who’ve participated, and are planning to this year.  And would certainly encourage anyone who didn’t have a chance to do it on March 11th to make it the theme of any of their upcoming dress down days.”

As well as cross-promoting the CNCF initiative, MYSCH also supported Islands National Museum in raising $1,200 by getting it permission to sell its gift shop items during the Ministry’s Dress for Culture Day at the Government Administration Building. The funds raised will go towards the museum’s current programmes.

MYSCH’s full-day of cultural events at GAB began with a photo opportunity for civil servants.

The CNCF’s Dress for Culture picture competition submissions closed on Monday, 21 March. To view and for vote on the images, visithttps://www.facebook.com/caymanculture Winners will be announced at the end of the month.
