Fifteen Migrants arrive in Cayman Brac
The Cayman Islands Customs and Border Control Service (CBC) confirms that at approximately 9:15pm on 24 April 2022, a marine vessel with 15 male migrants arrived in Cayman Brac.
CBC Director Charles Clifford states “we are closely monitoring the increase in migrants arriving on our shores. A multiagency meeting was convened this morning to discuss the recent migrations and strategies to effectively manage the situation as well as mitigate the associated risks.” Mr. Clifford advised that further information about today’s multiagency meeting will be released tomorrow.
All migrants are being temporarily held in quarantine in Cayman Brac in accordance with COVID-19 protocols and arrangements are currently being made for transportation to Grand Cayman.
