Leading Spanish political commentator Carlos Carnicero has equated Gibraltar with the Cayman Islands in an article published in the national press.

Against the backdrop of the current crisis affecting the Eurozone and its devastating effects on Spain, Sr Carnicero rails against financial speculators and the captains that drive the engines of capitalism, which he says “fabricate profit on the suffering of the majority.”

According to the commentator, their logistical centres are located in Gibraltar and the Cayman Islands, territories he colourfully describes as “nuclear cemeteries of mankind’s dreams.”
