DOT PRESS RELEASE:
Amid rousing applause from onlookers at the check-in gate, representatives from the Ministry and Department of Tourism joined officials from Cayman Airways for a pre-flight ribbon cutting ceremony, marking the launch of its seasonal non-stop service from Grand Cayman to Dallas Fort Worth. “Today is a special day for Cayman Airways and for the Cayman Islands tourism industry,” remarked Hon. W. McKeeva Bush, Premier and Minister of Tourism. “This direct service will provide an easy and convenient option for travellers wishing to travel to the Cayman Islands for business or leisure travel and as such, it plays a key strategic role in our ongoing quest to boost incremental tourism to the Cayman Islands.”
Expressing his support for the new seasonal route that is expected to further solidify the longstanding relationship with Texas, Premier Bush affirmed that with the level of diversity inherent in the Texas market, visitors from that area are expected to be duly impressed with the variety of land and sea based attractions on offer in the Cayman Islands. “The Dallas area has proven to be an area with strong growth potential” the Premier continued “and we are looking forward to the opportunities this route will create in the coming months.”
With the inclusion of Dallas Fort Worth, Cayman Airways now provides service to and from six US gateways and to four countries outside of the USA. Operating from June through to September, the service is expected to be particularly popular with divers wishing to explore the Cayman Islands underwater world, since Texas ranks highly with respect to the number of persons gaining new diver certifications.
