Forced Labor Why California’s Governor Newsom was wrong to veto bill for migrant workers We are disappointed to share that, despite the support of almost 37,000 in the Freedom United community who helped secure passage through both the Assembly and the Senate in California, Governor Newsom vetoed bill AB364. In doing so, this has failed temporary migrant workers in California who are seeking protection from unscrupulous foreign labor contractors who illegally bind them to exploitative work conditions.
