Kobre & Kim opens Cayman Islands office
Leading the firm’s initiative in the Cayman Islands will be James Corbett QC, an English Queen’s Counsel with extensive experience in the Caribbean and other offshore jurisdictions, and James Stenning, who has focused on litigation in the Cayman Islands courts for much of his career.
On the office opening, Mr. Corbett QC said, “This was a logical next step for our firm given our extensive involvement in company and investment fund disputes arising in the USA, Europe and Asia. The Cayman Islands are a leading jurisdiction for high-stakes financial and insolvency disputes.”
Mr. Stenning added, “As an attorney I am excited to become an integral part of this leading litigation boutique for cross-border disputes, and as a Caymanian I am also looking forward to the contribution Kobre & Kim will make to this jurisdiction’s economy.”
The new office in the Cayman Islands, along with the firm’s British Virgin Islands office which was announced this past May, gives the firm full capability to litigate and advocate in two of the world’s leading offshore jurisdictions for complex financial, company, and insolvency disputes. Kobre & Kim is actively recruiting for several additional lawyers in the Cayman Islands and is currently in active negotiations for an expanded office facility.
