Cabinet Post Meeting Summary

Her Excellency the Governor Mrs. Jane Owen, chaired the meeting of the Cabinet held on Tuesday, 5th September 2023 in the Cabinet Conference Room, Government Administration Building.

Solicitor General, Ms. Reshma Sharma acted as Attorney General, all other Ministers and Members of Cabinet were present.

At this meeting Cabinet:

• Approved the lease of premises for the Royal Cayman Islands Police Service, George Town Police Station;
• Reviewed and noted the Annual Report and Audited Financial Statements of the Tourism Attraction Board of the Cayman Islands for the year ended 31 December 2022 and authorised the Hon Minister for Tourism and Ports to present the Annual Report and Financial Statements to Parliament;
• Reviewed and noted the Annual Report and Audited Financial Statements of Cayman Airways Limited for the year ended 31st December 2022 and authorised the Hon Minister for Tourism and Ports to present the Annual Report and Financial Statements to Parliament;
• Approved in accordance with sections 11(5) and 11(6) of the Public Management and Finance Act (2020 Revision) the reduction of EI 161 – Submarine Cable by $50,000 and the increase of EI 12 – Ministry of Education by $50,000;
• Approved in accordance with sections 11(5) and 11(6) of the Public Management and Finance Act (2020 Revision) the increase in TP-30 – Local and Overseas Scholarships and Bursaries by Four Million Dollars (CI$4,000,000.00).
• Noted the Cayman Islands’ Third Quarter Economic Report 2022;
• Noted the Cayman Islands’ Foreign Trade Statistics Report 2022;
• Noted the Cayman Islands’ Semi-Annual Economic Report 2022;
• Noted the Cayman Islands’ Annual Economic Report 2022;
• Noted the Cayman Islands’ Compendium of Statistics 2022;
• Noted the Cayman Islands’ Quarterly Trade Statistics Bulletin: January to March 2023;
• Noted the Cayman Islands’ Labour Force Survey Report: Spring 2023;
• Noted the Cayman Islands’ Consumer Price Index Report: April to June 2023; and
• Noted the Institutional Reaccreditation of the University College of the Cayman Islands.
