Cayman: Thousands without electrical power yesterday (Sunday 15 Oct)

Yesterday afternoon, Sunday Oct 15, over 16,000 customers were without power. It was only until late evening (after 7:30pm) that we understand power was restored to the whole Island.

We are awaiting the official CUC release this am.

CUC did confirm, albeit to ourselves inquiring, that a small electrical fire at the North Sound Plant was the culprit.

Emergency and Fire Services were sent to the plant. However, we understand, the fire had already extinguished.

No injuries were reported.
