Shortly after 3:00PM on Friday 10 November, the 9-1-1 Communications Centre dispatched emergency services to a report of a person in distress on a vessel in the vicinity of Rum Point, North Side.

It was reported that a man had been swimming near the vessel when he was observed unresponsive in the water. He was taken to the vessel by other persons in the vicinity and CPR was administered.

The vessel arrived at the nearest dock and the man was then transported to the Cayman Islands Hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

The deceased, a man age 52, is a visitor from Canada.
