Cayman Police Respond to Report of Illegal Landing
From RCIPS
Shortly after 7:00AM yesterday, 18 January, the 9-1-1 Communications Centre dispatched officers to a report that a vessel carrying two men had landed on the shore off Bodden Town Road, in the Breakers area. Officers attended the location and detained the two men, Jamaican nationals ages 33 and 40, who appeared to be in good health.
Officers from the Cayman Islands Coast Guard and Cayman Islands Customs and Border Control also attended the scene. The vessel was recovered by CICG officers, while the men were handed over to CBC, who are carrying out the investigation into the circumstances of their arrival. The men have been arrested by CBC on suspicion of illegal landing, and remain in custody.
An extensive search of the surrounding area was carried out by the RCIPS Air Operations Unit, however nothing illegal was found.
