Innocence is no Defence- Gaza and others

A familiar term to defence attorneys in a criminal trial with protracted incarceration before a verdict by the court or unwilling prosecution decision not to proceed has greater application to the wider world.
When leaders are selected by democratic vote or otherwise such as Hamas in Gaza, Putin in Russia, Assad in Syria or many others, the population has made themselves subject to the wild ideas or oppression of their de facto leadership. Western concepts of removal by disgrace, no confidence motions, resignations or recall petitions are notably absent from vast swathes of the world. The cruel implementation of these erratic decisions always lead to conflict, death and mass harm.
It has been some time since these types of malefactors ended up at the end of a rope on a lamp post, against a wall or in a drainage pipe a la Mussolini, Ceausescu and Gaddafi. The clock is ticking.
Amongst the crying, wailing and display of dead children by a population subjected to the most reckless behavior there is very little responsibility for the road that brought them here. All the brave men could not have died in Russia, Gaza, Syria, Iran or Nicaragua. Someone can hold leadership accountable for their actions by ballot or bullet. There is not a shortage of either.
More screaming, more protests, more news will not change this dynamic. For sure, the United Nations and their affiliates are shouting into the mass silence of no confidence. No amount of statements from those upon high prevented a single bullet or bomb in Ukraine or Gaza. The booming quiet of the UN on the 7th October atrocity is perhaps the swan song of a failed institution.
The responsibility ultimately lies with we the people.
If some generations will turn off their video games or refrain from swiping on their phones there could be some hope for the future. Influencers or celebrities will have no part in the future with faux measured utterances devoid of depth but instead fulfill their true destiny as clowns in the circus, a brief distraction.
Perhaps the answer lies not only in sanction and economic deprivation but the wide scale removal of diplomats increasingly obsolete in a world beset by uncontained conflict. In the extended conflicts in Ukraine, Syria and Gaza, propped up by many third parties actions and inactions, the answer could lie in the closing of borders. Hanging on for peace talks has not worked. The world has to become more black or white. Media outlets giving space to autocratic spokespersons while being denied fact checking or journalist investigations are the worst offenders. They are just a click away from registering your disgust.
If the independent and realistic assessment is that conflict has not only spread but gathered steam then the responsibility lies in the hands of the wider population, not the inner supplicants, to effect change one body at a time.

Термин, знакомый адвокатам защиты в уголовном процессе с длительным пребыванием под стражей до вынесения приговора суда или нежелания обвинения отказаться от продолжения дела, имеет большее применение в более широком мире. Когда лидеры избираются демократическим голосованием или иным образом, такие как Хамас в Газе, Путин в России, Асад в Сирии или многие другие, население подвергается диким идеям или угнетению со стороны своего фактического руководства. Западные концепции смещения с позором, вотума недоверия, отставки или прошения об отзыве практически отсутствуют в обширных частях мира. Жестокая реализация этих ошибочных решений всегда приводит к конфликтам, смертям и массовым разрушениям. Давно уже такие злоумышленники не оказывались на конце веревки на фонарном столбе, у стены или в водосточной трубе в духе Муссолини, Чаушеску и Каддафи. Часы тикают. Среди плача, причитаний и демонстрации мертвых детей населением, подвергающимся самому безрассудному поведению, очень мало ответственности за дорогу, которая привела их сюда. Все храбрецы не могли погибнуть в России, секторе Газа, Сирии, Иране или Никарагуа. Кто-то может привлечь руководство к ответственности за свои действия голосованием или пулей. Недостатка нет и в том, и в другом. Больше криков, больше протестов, больше новостей не изменят эту динамику. Конечно, Организация Объединенных Наций и ее филиалы кричат в массовое молчание о недоверии. Никакие заявления высокопоставленных лиц не предотвратили ни одной пули или бомбы в Украине или секторе Газа. Громкое молчание ООН по поводу злодеяний 7 октября, возможно, является лебединой песней обанкротившейся организации. Ответственность в конечном итоге лежит на нас, людях. Если некоторые поколения отключат свои видеоигры или воздержатся от свайпов на своих телефонах, у них появится надежда на будущее. Влиятельные люди или знаменитости не будут участвовать в будущем с ложно размеренными высказываниями, лишенными глубины, а вместо этого выполнят свое истинное предназначение как клоуны в цирке, кратковременное отвлечение внимания. Возможно, ответ заключается не только в санкциях и экономических лишениях, но и в широкомасштабном удалении дипломатов, которые становятся все более устаревшими в мире, охваченном неконтролируемым конфликтом.В затяжных конфликтах на Украине, в Сирии и секторе Газа, поддерживаемых действиями и бездействием многих третьих сторон, ответ может заключаться в закрытии границ. Продолжать мирные переговоры не удалось. Мир должен стать более черным или белым. СМИ, предоставляющие место автократическим представителям, в то же время отказывая в проверке фактов или журналистских расследованиях, являются худшими правонарушителями. Они на расстоянии одного клика от того, чтобы выразить свое отвращение. Если независимая и реалистичная оценка состоит в том, что конфликт не только распространился, но и набрал обороты, тогда ответственность за изменение одного тела за раз лежит на более широких слоях населения, а не на внутренних просителях.
