Sweet victory for two chocolate giants!

Hello and hoppy Easter to you, ALL!  We hope you will have an eggcellent Easter weekend and get to spend it with somebunny you love to be extra hoppy.

Okay, enough with the puns. But seriously, we’ve got some great news to share. We did it – we got two chocolate giants to open their books and share insights into their supply chains, as revealed by the 2024 Chocolate Scorecard.

Allow me to back up a little bit. The Chocolate Scorecard comes out every year and ranks companies – and, brand new this year, retailers – in their sustainability efforts. That includes policies and practices on climate, agroforestry, child labor, and much more.

We’ve got all the detailson the companies that are doing well, and those lagging behind, what has been done against child labor, and the significant impact our campaigns have made in this effort.

After last year’s Scorecard, we launched an action to demand transparency from Mondelez, Unilever & General Mills, two of the largest chocolate sellers that own many familiar brands, since they refused to answer any questions about their supply chains.

This lack of commitment to be transparent is problematic because it leaves consumers in the dark about where their chocolate comes from and under which conditions it is made, leaving potential abuses uncovered.

Well, this year, Mondelez and Unilever participated in the Chocolate Scorecard – so our community’s efforts worked!

However, still nothing from General Mills… We are slowly, but steadily getting quite angry at the makers of Häagen-Dazs, Fiber One, and Cocoa Puffs. But if we get working today, we can ramp up efforts and start a new action to increase pressure.

Can you chip in? Just $5 from our community members will allow us to escalate the pressure on General Mills.
Donate $5
We hope we can count on you to get General Mills to follow Unilever and Mondelez to be more transparent and clean up their supply chains.
