Cayman Turtle Centre prepares to re-open this weekend after Hurricane Beryl clean-up
Following the passage of Hurricane Beryl, staff at the Cayman Turtle Conservation and Education Centre (CTCEC) are busy assessing the damage caused by the storm and restoring the park, ready for re-opening to the public on Sunday, 7 July from 8:00 AM.
“The safety of our visitors, staff and animals are our top priority, and this is our guiding principle before, during and after any storm.” Mr. Christopher Jackson, Chief Executive Officer at Cayman Turtle Centre, said.
“We are pleased to inform the public that, by careful advance preparation, and by following all of our disaster preparedness protocols, all of our animals and exhibits have been kept safe and only minor damage has been incurred to the Centre. Our team are now hard at work clearing the debris and ensuring that everything is safe and sound before we re-open our doors to the public.”
Cayman Turtle Centre will remain closed to the public on Friday & Saturday, 5-6 July while CTCEC’s maintenance team survey the entire park to check everything for soundness and safety, debris is cleared and all of the animals that were placed in temporary hurricane-proof housing are carefully returned to their normal homes.
“I would like to say a huge thank you to all of our Crew Members who worked together diligently to help us prepare for the onset of the storm and those who have been on hand to ensure the safety and welfare of our animals throughout.”
We look forward to opening again on Sunday, 7 July once the restoration process is complete.
