REVISED SCHEDULE OF PUBLIC CONSULTATIONS FOLLOWING HURRICANE BERYL

“Your Plan, Your Future” – Revised Schedule of Public Consultations

George Town, Grand Cayman – July 12, 2024. The PlanCayman public consultations continue following Hurricane Beryl.  The revised schedule outlines the remaining consultations for the Planning Statement, the first stage of the PlanCayman consultation process.

The upcoming in-person sessions in Little Cayman and East End, Cayman Brac, Savannah/Newlands and North Side, along with a Virtual session, are vital for collecting feedback that will shape the future policies and strategies of the Cayman Islands.

Rescheduled In-Person Public Consultations:

  *   Little Cayman: July 15, Little Cayman Beach Resort, 7:00 PM – 9:00 PM
  *   East End: July 18, William Allen McLaughlin Civic Centre, 7:00 PM – 9:00 PM
  *   Cayman Brac: July 22, Ashton Rutty Centre, 7:00 PM – 9:00 PM
  *   Savannah/Newlands: July 25, Savannah United Church, 7:00 PM – 9:00 PM
  *   North Side: July 29, North Side Civic Centre, 7:00 PM – 9:00 PM

Virtual Public Consultation:

  *   All Islands: July 18, 12:00 PM – 2:00 PM

If you missed the consultation in your district, you can still participate by joining the virtual session via Facebook Live and YouTube Live. This dynamic session is your chance to help finalize our community’s vision for sustainable development. Ensure your voice is heard and that the PlanCayman Planning Statement represents the diverse needs of our islands.

These consultations are critical for gathering a wide range of perspectives, ensuring PlanCayman achieves a balance of economic, social, and environmental sustainability. Each session is designed to foster comprehensive dialogue between the authorities and the community, promoting a transparent and inclusive planning process.

We urge all residents of Grand Cayman, Cayman Brac, and Little Cayman to engage in these vital discussions. Your insights and feedback are essential in refining the PlanCayman Planning Statement to effectively support sustainable development across our islands.

The Development Plan, referred to as PlanCayman is a long-range comprehensive policy which will
be used to guide physical development and the overall use of land in the Cayman Islands. The primary
objective of the Development Plan is to maintain and enhance the economy, society and environment
of the Cayman Islands. It is intended that the policy and strategy for the Islands is flexible enough to
accommodate individual requirements, special circumstances and changing conditions while also
ensuring that all development seeks to balance and integrate social, environmental and economic
considerations to meet the needs of the nation without compromising the ability of future generations
to meet their own needs.

Achieving a sustainable economy requires collaboration between the government, businesses,
community and individuals. As such, a priority for PlanCayman is to encourage better coordination
and cooperation among all interested persons and entities
