Sister Islands Urged to Stay-In-Place
The latest forecast track of Tropical Storm Rafael indicates that it is becoming better organised with a hurricane likely to form near the Cayman Islands tonight (Tuesday, 5 November). The forecast projects that Little Cayman will be the closest point of approach, with winds near 74 mph or greater and wave heights reaching 10-15 feet. The eye wall is expected to cross over Little Cayman (approx. 8-10 p.m.).
As the Storm approaches, the public is reminded that expected impacts include damage to infrastructure, property and foliage. At the same time, residents should be prepared in case of potential damage to power lines and the water systems.

- Hurricane force winds, very dangerous wave action and rain
- Flooding in low-lying and especially coastal areas
- Storm surge levels could reach up to 3 feet
