LA reconvenes Fri (17) for the Throne Speech and Budget Address
What isn’t at all clear is whether the Budget details Government sent to the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) in London have been approved.
Government proposed a $580M spending and a $650M revenue plan but the surplus of $70M is $6M short of the figure the UK economist’ who was here in an advisory capacity, had indicated would be required to satisfy London.
The Premier, Hon. McKeeva Bush, said on the radio earlier this week that if he delivered a budget without the FCO approval the Governor would not assent to the Bill.
Whatever happens the Budget is going to be very controversial.
However, we already know where the blame will not lie for all the austerity measures that the budget will most certainly contain. It will not be the present government’s fault at all.
