Cayman Police Investigate Serious Collision in George Town Involving Two-Vehicles
From RCIPS
Police was on mobile patrol when they were alerted by members of the public of a collision that took place nearby. The officer alerted the 9-1-1 Communications Centre to a report of two-vehicle collision that took place at the junction of Goring Avenue and Walkers Road and other emergency services were dispatched to assist.
The officers on scene assessed the extent of a collision and assisted the occupants out of each vehicle, following which they began immediate medical interventions on the male occupant of one of the vehicles, whose condition appeared to have been worsening and appeared to have become unresponsive and not breathing. Police officers continued CPR until the arrival of the ambulance who then transported the involved parties to the hospital for treatment.
The male involved in the collision sustained what appears to be serious and life-threatening-injuries and remain in the hospital in critical condition. The woman that was involved in the collision appears to have sustained non-life-threatening injuries and is still being treated at the hospital.
The roadway has now been cleared and is open to the public. The RCIPS would like to thank the public and the emergency workers who assisted with the collision, including an off-duty nurse who assisted the police with CPR until the arrival of the ambulance.
The collision is being investigated by the Traffic and Roads Policing Unit.
