Festive Fun at the Looky Ya! Anniversary Christmas Market
The Cayman Islands National Museum’s Looky Ya! Anniversary Christmas Market on November 30, 2024, was a festive celebration of community, culture, and the holiday season. Visitors enjoyed browsing booths with handmade crafts, local treats, and unique finds, including the Treasures of Cayman booth. Families delighted in face painting, while live performances by Madam Nirosa and Randy Chollette spread holiday cheer. Since 2007, Doss Solomon has been a dedicated member of the National Museum team, blending his administrative expertise with a passion for preserving Caymanian heritage. Celebrating 34 Years: Lease Renewal for the Old Courts Building
The Cayman Islands National Museum celebrated its 34th anniversary with the renewal of its lease for the historic Old Courts Building. Hon. Isaac Rankine, Minister for Heritage, accepted the symbolic peppercorn lease with a traditional thatch rope exchange, honouring Caymanian ingenuity. Minister Rankine and Museum Director Dr. Veerle Poupeye emphasized the importance of preserving this 19th-century icon as a vital link to the nation’s cultural heritage, ensuring its legacy for future generations.
