HR professionals honoured in Cayman Islands

Snr press & PR officer, Univ. of Portsmouth, UK

International experts in human resource management will be leading a free one-day conference in George Town next month (Monday, September 10th) at which local human resources professionals will also be honoured.

Students who successfully completed their CIPD Professional Certificate in Human Resource Practice will be honoured in front of VIPs including the President of the UCCI, the President and CEO of the Chamber of Commerce, employers and mentors.

The conference is a celebration of the University of Portsmouth’s 12 years’ working with human resources specialists in the Cayman Islands to help advance their knowledge, skills and careers.

It is also a major networking event for new and former graduates, with over 100 human resources professionals from the Cayman Islands having gained their professional qualifications from the University of Portsmouth. Many are expected to attend to catch up with old friends and tutors.

Speakers at the conference include Professor Charlotte Rayner, an international expert in workplace bullying who advises governments, trade unions and human resources professionals; Dr Liza Howe-Walsh, an expert in international human resource management and leadership; and Gary Rees, a leading expert in change management and HR. All three are from Portsmouth Business School, one of the largest and most successful business schools in the UK.

The Cayman Islands Society of Human Resources Professionals (CISHRP) President Samantha Nehra praised the event and said: “CISHRP is committed to assisting its members and the wider community in engaging in continuous professional development, both locally and internationally. The University of Portsmouth’s CIPD accredited programmes offer a wide range of options and we are excited to be able to connect our membership to this opportunity.”

The University of Portsmouth has a legacy of over 30 years as a CIPD centre of excellence and has developed thousands of students through to Chartered Membership and Fellowship of the CIPD, putting them head and shoulders above the competition in the job market.

Portsmouth Business School’s next Masters programme for HR specialists starts in Grand Cayman this October, and the next Professional Certificate in Human Resource Practice is planned to start next February.

The Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) is the world’s largest Chartered HR and development professional body, with over 135 000 members worldwide.
