Safety first as students head back to school
Throughout the first week of the new school year, officers will be reminding motorists of the need to slow down in school zones, pick up and drop off students appropriately and, of course, what they should and should not do when they see a school bus stopped on the road. This educational approach, under the umbrella of the Street Skills initiative , will see officers posted outside all schools in the Cayman Islands.
During the second week of the new term, officers deliver road safety presentations to all primary school classes.
Officer on mobile patrol will also be on hand to assist with traffic management outside the schools.
SPC General and CI Frank Owens will be available for interview at 7.30am on Wednesday 29 August 2012 at Red bay Primary School.
